My buddy is trying to sell his 1997 Dodge Dakota. I don't think this is spam so I'm going to post what he sent me on here. If anyone is interested, let me know.
OK, I'm selling my 1997 Dodge Dakota. I'll list the bad shit upfront so you know what kind of condition it is in. I'm not going to lie and try to pawn this off on someone who really needs a vehicle. It is not in the best condition but it does get around.
-Has over 205,000 miles on it. This was due to my dad using it for work a few years ago. He drove a couple hundred miles sometimes to work, etc. etc.
-The A/C doesn't work. It doesn't even blow COOL air. I went to get dye run through it and they said it needs a new evaporator and accumulator...totaling $720 with labor. I'm sure you can get it cheaper or buy the parts from a salvage yard or something. I don't have the money to get it fixed, although I'm trying hard to raise it. You can get the freon recharged and it lasts about 2 weeks...not bad for $12 if you ask me. The heat here is getting fucking unbareable and the windows just don't cut it.
-The lightswitch doesn't work...I have to slam the shit out of the knob to get the headlights to work. Even then, it takes about 100 times, LITERALLY. Sometimes they don't even come on and I have to hold the switch for the highbeams just to have light. The overhead dome light doesn't work. It worked for ONE day recently, but then it stopped again. I'm sure if the lightswitch is replaced all problems will be fixed.
-I got in a minor wreck in January and the bumper on the passenger side is a little bent...I took the bumper off and pounded the shit out of it with a sledgehammer and it is on the truck now. Can't tell it was in a wreck until you get close to it...if you look at it from the side, it is out of place a bit. Nothing major though.
-The seats have a problem...no, they're not torn or anything, but they WILL NOT sit up/lay back...they have to stay in one position. If you try to lean it back, it will go all the way back. It stays in one position and that's it.
-Gas mileage isn't that great for me, but maybe because I speed like a maniac....it has no problem hitting 90, takes a bit to hit 100 though. I've gone 110 down a hill once...almost got my ass caught too but luckily there was another hill right after that and I slowed down. Cop was at the bottom of that hill.
That's about it for the bad shit....nothing major except for the A/C. I'm sure you can get it fixed cheaper or get the parts yourself and do it yourself. Now on to the good things:
-You can race little sporty cars and kick their ass...I've done it a dozen times. The take off is amazing if you floor it...this truck screeches on take off...
-V6 Magnum engine...well, that may not be amazing, but it does have some power behind it.
-Handles great...takes sharp curves at 50 MPH and doesn't flip. If anyone lives in Tyler and has been down Shiloh...right before you hit Broadway, there are 2 curves at the apartments. You're supposed to go 30, and I can see why....
-You can turn corners fast as hell and peel out and everyone looks at you....have got some opened mouths from old people.
-Has a camper over the bed...not sure if you want that or not. It's good if you are storing something and don't want it to get wet, but other than that...I don't know.
It's in TX of course, so if you want to travel, fine...if you live in TX, fine.
