I've never had Chicken Pox and I'm 23. I heard it is even worse to get them
later in life. Especially if it gets in the way of your work time, etc. because
most likely you wouldn't be able to go to work while you have it. I'm always
tried to stay healthy my whole life & taken vitamins since I was young from
my parents. Don't know how much or if at all that helped, but I still haven't
had them. Anyone know of ways to avoid it or what? I remember my sister
when to spend the night at a friends when she was younger and the
next morning she came home with chicken pox.
Anyone else never had chicken pox yet?
And for those of you who have tell us a little story about your chicken
pox episode if you can remember it. How bad do they suck?

Got a big mark on my leg from when i was chasing my sister and i scratched it on something and one on the back of my head which i scratched although you cant see it through my hair :D
I heard they are worse if you get them when your older too.

Pepe look into getting the vaccine because Herpes Zoster as an adult can be fatal or at least a royal bitch.
I had them when I was four. Surprisingly I don't remember a thing, maybe I purposely blocked it out :cool

Give me some more info on that bro...there is a vaccine. Herpes Zoster...
from herpes?

Yes on both accounts.
If you have had the chicken pox then you have had a form of herpes
The vaccine is pretty much standard for children now a days. I know both my brothers got it and didn't have to go through chicken pox. Mainly as an adult you run the risk of having a shingles like reaction where the virus flairs up in your peripheral nerves causing a shit ton of pain.

I had chickenpox as a child, and I remember it itching like hell.
I've also gone through the 'shingles', which is the same chickenpox virus attacking you from the inside later on.
And let me tell you, the pain fucking sucks. It's not your everyday pain, but something else, it's fucking annoying.
I do recommend the vaccination, since getting the primary chickenpox can be fatal the older you get.

Wow, I thought both the vaccine and herpes information was well known. It was even in an episode of south park.
I had them when I was 8, they didn't bother me at all, but my sisters complained like hell.

Yeh man mumps sucked. Had it for about 2 weeks (despite having the MMR jab when i was younger which should have prevented it). My face swelled to twice its size. It hurt to eat anything and i just felt shit!
I dont reccomend it lol.
I never knew about the chicken pox - herpes link either. I take it the vaccine for chicken pox doesnt protect you from the STI too

I've had Chicken Pox as an adult, however at the time my immune system was depressed due to other medication. If you are healthy I wouldn't bother getting the vaccine unless you expect to be working in childcare or medicine.
Once you have introduced the virus either by infection or vaccination you will need to continue to vaccinate yourself every 10 years or so to ensure that you dont get the more dangerous and more painful shingles (herpes zoster).

Ahh, chicken pox. I had it when I was little, and I only have one vivid memory about it. When I was sick with it, my parents gave me more attention than they usually did. My little sister, who was used to getting all of the attention, got jealous. She talked me into putting her passifier in my mouth. Then she put it in her mouth. Worked like a charm!
