Who would have thought these two teams would be facing off? So what do you all think about the upcoming game...any predictions? Let's discuss...and also the commercials when they appear on Super Bowl day.

Cardinals win. Face it, its Kurt Warner's brilliance in the playoffs on show again. The man was so great with the Rams back earlier in the decade that their offense was called the greatest show on earth. Two time MVP super bowl MVP and could easily have one MVP again this year. Great to see and now that the Titans were royally fucked in the ass by the officials on two of the biggest blown calls in NFL Playoff history, Ill be cheering the underdog all the way!

Pittsburgh FTW. They have the best D in the nation, I think that they can stop the cardinals running game no doubt. I don't think that the Cardinals have faced a defnese like Pitt. They have a great rush, and great db's since Mike Tomlin has taken over, and Bryan Dawkins is no Troy Polamalu. The steelers can definitely run Willie Parker is good and Mewelde Moore has been excellent as well in his few starts. I think it will be a really good game though.
I think the most interesting aspect is that both of the quarterbacks refuse to lose in the 4th quarter, we've seen Roethlisberger do it all year and Warner do it throughout his career and especially against the eagles, I am really excited to see these two teams play, much more than usual.

As many of you know I am from St. Louis. I want to cheer for Kurt but I can't. My Dad has a serious hate for the Cardinals (its a long funny story). I can't though, I just can't cheer for them. They are in my division the NFC West.
It would be nice for Kurt to win another Superbowl and Larry Fitzgerald is playing some ball. He is clowning people in the playoffs. Just clowning people.
My honest straight up bet is that the Steelers will win because when an Unstoppable force (Cardinals offense) meets and unmovable object (Steelers Defence) shit goes down. The Steelers have a better defense, a lot better than the ones the Cardinals have played in the NFC playoffs, well maybe except Carolina. Who knows.
I love football.

G-Spot: Come on baby...you know they were called the "Greatest Show on Turf" ...
Tiger_Penis: lol, for some reason I'm really intrigued to here the funny story about your father hating the Cardinals! Come on, spill the beans that some Cardinal stole your dad's babe back in the day, lol  :icon_surprised:
I think it's going to be a great game as well. I want the Cardinals to win, but everything tells me Steelers because of their great D and all year though they have not be spectacularly much better then anyone you can't deny that some how, some way they always seem to fight through the tough close game and squeek it out.
But now with Hines Ward's knee issue, which I predict to be a torn ligament, he may most likely not play at all or much. This will hurt the Steelers big time. If so Cards can concentrate on containing TE Miller and WR Holmes who is just balling as of late. Steelers may not have enough offense to help their defense really win it. I think it will all come down to Larry Fitzgerald though. Steelers will most likely contain the run, but if they also can handle Fitzgerald...well game over, Steelers win.

Well it is funnier to hear it told by him but He was a Cardinals fan since he was born. He had his hopes dashed year after year. He told me how he got into fights defending the team, how they drafted a bad ass TE only to have him die suddenly of a heart problem in training camp. How Billy Bidwell (the owner at the time, and the family still owns the team) never did anything but pay lip service to improving the team. How they moved the Team in the late 80's finally broke his heart.

Man that shit is kinda sad. That makes me wonder now how some Ravens/Browns fans feel, I mean the Ravens use to be the Browns. When they moved were the Browns fans still loyal to the same team with the majority of same players with just a different name or until they brought a new franchise back to Cleveland or what? I would feel weird if my Buccaneers moved and then a new franchised replaced them later on with the same name. That is what will be happening to Seattle Supersonics in the NBA as well.
I've never really met any true Browns/Ravens fans, but that is definately something I'd like to ask them.

But the Titans really showed a weakness is Pitts defense in week 17. man they stomped them. They would done it again if they had not been fucked. Pitts weakness? They blitz so hard that you can get them on screens. Odd, the screen is one of Arizona's primary attacks! Plus James has his edge back:lol: Ok, bad joke but you get my point. lol Also, Troy Palamalu, or anyone man alive for that matter, cant cover Fitzgerald one on one. So they have to double him. That leaves Boldin with one on one coverage and Breaston with one on one with a saftey, more than likely. Harrison and Woodley cant really drop back because of covering the backfield screen or the run. Damn this will be a good fucking game! If Ward is out, and that did look pretty bad, Pitts offense cant match up. He is their key. We also have seen how bad Big Ben struggles in big games! I wanna like Pitt because I faced off against and knew Heath Miller in high school when he played, believe it or not, quarterback an is a damn good guy but I just wanna see Kurt get another one and James deserves one as much as anybody.
PS: Yeah i fucked up the Rams nickname lol used to be my favorite team thanks to Isaac Bruce and Marshal Faulk and of course, Kurt Warner!

Heck ya about Edge James deserving one. Did you hear the Colts actually gave him a Super Bowl ring as well because they thought he had been such a big success over the years. Of course the year the Colts won the Super Bowl was the 1st year Edge was with the Cardinals. What a bummer.
G-Spot19
20th January 2009, 07:53 AM
yeah I heard about that. I think he would just rather have one of his own. He is one hell of a back.
PepeLePew
20th January 2009, 08:14 AM
Yea, I don't even think I could have accepted that ring from the Colts. You got to truly feel like you earned it 110% yourself.
Hell Bill Russell even last year was going to offer Kevin Garnett one of his 11 rings if he never were to win a ring...luckily he won his 1st last year on his own.
G-Spot19

And im sure he will have a couple more. That interview with KG and Bill Russel was awesome!

20th January 2009, 09:29 PM
I agree, I would love to see James get a ring, but not at the expense of the Steelers.
It makes me wonder about the salary cap, on one hand I like the fact that one team can't just outspend all the others, and that it creates a more even playing field between the markets. But on the other hand it also makes it impossible for multiple players to stay at a team for their entire career, and also make the money they deserve.

Shit fuck the Steelers. On ESPN today they were saying Pitt had no class because of what happened when McGahee got hurt. They said that some of the players were celebrating on the sidelines even with seeing the injury and that the stadium was playing party music over the speakers and encouraging fans to sing as the medical staff came out to cart him off. Its also been on NBC and CBS. Not only that, the NFL admits that the hit should have been a helmet to helmet hit and that it was a dirty shot on a man who gave his all when their was no possible chance left. League officials said the hit was dirty and unnecessary. I wanted a nice competitive game, but i hope the bastards get the steel curtain ripped down and their asses raped:mad:
G-Spot19
21st January 2009, 04:22 AM
And the best part was replies from Steeler fans on the blogs when the controversy was first brought up. "Who cares ... players get injured all the time ... why is this an issue?"

G, I totally agree with you the steelers are a bunch of douche bags if everything that was reported was true. Players getting knocked out is serious life and death stuff. But I personally saw Steelers praying for Willis and standing over him and hoping he would get better.
You also made a very valid argument about the Cardinals Offence, but remember a year ago? The very same thing was said about the Patriots Offense you would just need to replace Fitzgerald with Moss and Boldin with Welker. The Patriots were undefeated and kicken ass all season. Brady looked unflappable and had not been touched all season really. The Giants blitzed but really brought pressure from their down linemen (Truth be told I have watched a lot of football in my life but what the Giants Defensive line did to Tom Brady and the Patriots Offensive line was one of the best football performances I have ever seen.) No offense, no matter how good, is unstoppable. I am a HUGE Rams Fan and I can tell you that once you start hitting Warner his accuracy drops considerably. He goes from sniper to blind toddler throwing paper in terms of accuracy. Harrison was a man on fire when it came to pass rushing this season and Troy, he can't cover Fitzgerald, the only corner right now that could stop him has been retired for a while (PRIMETIME! Old 21!). Frankly though you don't need to cover with Warner flat on his back.
I think Fitz will have himself a game, maybe a touch down or two, but the Steelers will not be drug up and down the field like the Falcons, Panthers or Eagles. I think the Cardinals have a very respectable chance to win and if they do win it won't be a TRUE upset. With all that said, I have been brought up in the old school, in terms of football, and I don't see the Cardinals defense hanging tough enough to keep the Steelers out of it.
My official betting line is Steelers by 4.
G-Spot19
21st January 2009, 04:48 AM
I saw them praying too. Big Ben as one of them. But some others were celebrating and the hit was dirty and not needed at all. It was a few players and PA guy that is getting the heat. The thing that makes it so bad is the fans response of who cares and the organization not stoping or acting on it.
G-Spot19
21st January 2009, 04:54 AM
Warner seems to deal with hits a lot better now than he did. e takes some hard ones. Did you see the cheap shot Philly nailed him with. The play was long over, Kurt was moving back to the huddle and Will Demps ran over a drilled him before he got there. I mean leveled him. The idiot should have been thrown out, not just flagged. But Kurt got back up and finished demolishing the Eagles 3rd rank D and the best D line in football.
PepeLePew
21st January 2009, 04:56 AM
Idk, I think it was a clean legal hit...just unforunate for the helmets to hit like that but he didn't seem to be leading with his head. Yea, I saw some Steeler players pumped up about the hit, but after they realized it was really serious I think that all stopped. You are right though with Big Ben, he showed a lot of class being out there making sure the guy was okay.
I do dispise the Steelers as well, but I do have to respect their game...they play tough ball.
The_Scientist
22nd January 2009, 12:20 AM
G, I know what you mean, but I don't think he intended to injure him. And it's the type of game it was, it was a hit hard and be hit hard game. I mean don't you remember when the Raven's said that Ward was a marked man earlier in the season. And there was some quote from a Raven's player about how Hines Ward was going to get injured during this playoff game and no one was going to cry, apologize, or send him flowers. (That was a very rough paraphrase.) But when you have people saying shit like that it's sort of hard to call anyone out. Most of the Steelers seemed to be worried for the guy, I mean out of any group of guys that big there are always going to be a few assholes who cheer, when someone gets injured. But for the most part, I think they were concerned and I mean really what's the db supposed to do pullup and get run over.
I guess what I mean to say is I don't think the hit was thrown with shitty intentions, and even if it was I wouldn't dislike an entire team for the actions of one person (generally).
G-Spot19
22nd January 2009, 08:56 AM
Well, maybe you guys are right. I just think the fact that they didnt need to make such a hard hit when the game was over is what bothers me. I also just dont like them lol.

Nice play Harrison...damn!

2nd February 2009, 02:07 AM
Shit yea that ended as a good game. I was just screaming & thought the Steelers were going to run out the time when they completed that 3rd down from their own 1 to Holmes...but then out of no where the holding call for Safety! Then the Fitzgerald burst for TD, damn I was so happy. But I just knew it was too much time for Big Ben to make things happen...especially when he got away again somehow and found Holmes.
Damn, I knew it was going to come down to Fitzgerald playing well for Cards to have any chance, and knowing that the Cards had to contain Holmes to win. I really wanted to see Warner throw some up to Fitz in the endzone at the end...I thought Kurt's arm broke through the hand deflection to get the throw off, but they called it a fumble.
But dang, the way Cards played they should have had the points. That Harrison INT for a return...100 yards...and one of the biggest game changing performances in Super Bowl history.
Damnit, but good Super Bowl. Go Buccaneers!

Warner and Roethlisberger are probably the two best 4th quarter quarterbacks not named Brady or Favre.

Santonio Holmes was on fire that last drive. He was amazing. AMAZING.
PepeLePew
2nd February 2009, 05:04 AM
Yep, he definately was one hell of a draft pick for them. Only receiver taken in 1st Round in 2006...25th overall.
He is only going to get better...he is very slippery. Almost Steve Smith like, but not there yet.

Damn what a game. Arizona dominated it stat wise, but that Harrison interception proved to be the killer play. Arizona made the great stops when they need to, all the way up to Pitt's last drive. Damn Big Ben. You guys see what an ass Harrison was on that punt? Beating the guy in the back and then shoving him like that. Ridiculous. Also, the roughing the passer on Az. was a terrible call. Gandy was there as the ball was released. Warner got hit exactly like that later and nothing got called. Also, i agree, I think Az. should have had another play or two. Kurt's hand wa going forward. Oh well. Hell of a game. Congrats Pittsburgh and impressive game for the Cards.
Tiger_Penis
2nd February 2009, 03:50 PM
The refs did make a lot of questionable calls that game. The Cardinals deserved another play at the and of the game. A deep ball to Larry Fitzgerald, man I don't know. That could have won the game. No one has been able to stop him yet.
Also, as much respect Santonio Holmes he should have been flagged for his post-TD celebration. That's another 15 yards the cardinals could have had.
Now I will say this. The Steelers played a hell of a game. They made the plays they needed to when they needed to. Harrison made a dumb play on that personal foul. Just dumb. But his interception was clutch. Also if that guy is 6 foot tall I must be like 8 foot 9 inches.
What did surprise me was how little they called Troy Polomalu's name. He didn't make any big plays.
Lastly I am willing to put Larry Fitzgerald up there in the top three receivers because he wasn't great the entire game BUT he was great when he needed to be. He really was.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/02/02/super.bowl.porn/
Porn airs during Super Bowl
Super Bowl fans in Tucson, Arizona, caught a different kind of show during Sunday's big game.
Just as Cardinals' superstar Larry Fitzgerald watched himself sprint into the end zone on the stadium's Jumbotron during Sunday's Super Bowl, 10 seconds of eye-popping pornographic imagery "flashed" across the screens of those watching at home.
"We are mortified by last evening's Super Bowl interruption, and deeply apologize to our customers for the inappropriate programming," Comcast Cable said in a written statement.
"Our initial investigation suggests this was an isolated malicious act," the statement added.
Comcast, and several local television stations that carried the signal, say they are currently investigating what caused the interruption.
"It appears this material was only viewed by some Comcast customers," local Tucson television station KVOA-TV said in a written statement.
Television station KVOA added "when the NBC feed of the Super Bowl was transmitted from KVOA to local cable providers and through over-the-air antennas, there was no pornographic material," KVOA President and General Manager Gary Nielsen said in a separate statement.

Sweet! The Super Bowl and porn! Perfect :cool
Also, T_P, i'm glad to see you see all those points too. Shockingly ESPN and other sports channels agree that the last few calls were terrible. The 15 yards on Holmes would have made a big difference. Wasnt called. I thought the NFL rules was the ball could not be used as a prop. Call Blown. They said Harrison should been tossed. Call Blown. They also said no way did the officials have time to review the final play and if they did, they would have seen that the ball was moving forward. Again Blown Call. Best part is, all the NFL analysts are the ones saying it. Does a lot of good now dont it?
PepeLePew
4th February 2009, 02:25 PM
I was watching espn last night & they actually showed Harrison INT clip for a TD & showed that there was a 12th man on the field for the Cards...an actually defensive player, so by the time Harrison got down to the Card 40 or 30 yard line you will notice Antrone Rolle (CB of the Cards) actually on the field on the near sideline looking bewondered at the play...Fitzgerald is running down the sideline trying to catchup to Harrison & Fitzgerald runs into Rolle, losing precious steps to make the tackle...that's his you saw Fitzgerald coming from out of bounds, because when it collided with Rolle his momentum took him out of bounds.
Results he just barely wasn't able to stop Harrison from getting into the end zone. And possibly Cardinals winning the Super Bowl with that stop.
Tiger_Penis
4th February 2009, 02:35 PM
Yeah G the NFL makes a big deal out of celebrating with the ball. I have seen guys get ripped a new one for doing less. The refs were too caught up in checking to see if Holmes got his feet in.
I heard though, on Monday, that the officials who review plays at the end of the game automatically (they sit up somewhere in every stadium, its like a press box) said that it was a Warner fumble. To be honest that whole brady-tuck-rule-fumble bullshit is so confusing. I think Warner was throwing it. But its a day late and a dollar short.
With all that said I think the Steelers deserved to win the game BUT the cardinals did not lose the game. If that makes any sense.
G-Spot19
5th February 2009, 06:43 AM
Makes perfect sense. I was just hoping Big Ben would get stopped this time since Pitt never really won the other Super Bowl. It was given to them, but Ben never scored that big TD. Oh well
