QUESTION:
Is it vein/selfish to feel more confident due to bodybuilding?
I know that any confidence should be drawn from being a child of God and being made in his image, and that this is just a temporal body for the Holy Spirit to work in.
But I can't help feeling more confident, for example I feel as if I can approach people I don't know and they would take my opinions more seriously.
Is this being self worshiping or egotistical? If so how do I stop?
Sorry for this wierd question

ANSWER:
Depends on your motivation. I don't feel selfish at all, because I do it to glorify Christ.
We are said to glorify God with all our body, all our mind, and all our spirit.

QUESTION:
How can I BB to glorify Christ?
I don't do it for girls or attention, I do it because i luv it.
How do I train with a focus on Christ?
I read somewhere that the things we are passionate about have been instilled in us by God as part of our uniqueness and God feels joy when we find what it is and do it. Is this true?

ANSWER:
I can't tell you how to do it, because it is very intrinsic.
We must do everything to glorify the Lord. I see my body as a temple of Christ, and we must keep it pure.
I also feel like God has made the human body to endure great stress, and bodybuilding pushes the human body to its limits.

i think that is ridiculous that it can be considered something against christ or religion if anything god said to respsect our bodies and treat them like our temples or something along that line lol.

How can things we enjoy be intrinsic? I used to enjoy listening to punk rock cos the people i hung around with listened to it but now i like r&b and hip-hop and dance music as over about 3 years i started hanging with new people that listened to this music. I now hate punk rock.

Why couldnt it be?
Hearing your story it seems to me that you listen to a particular kind of music because you don't want to fall out of the boat. Your taste depends on the people you hang out with.
You seem to be saying that we dont have a free will and that all our choices stem from the enviroment we live in. And while thats maybe true to a certain degree I dont think that things we love to do cannot be intrinsic.
For example: I'm a songwriter/musician. I write only because I love it. I write what I want and how I want it and I'm not influenced by my friends in any way.

Valk the confidence you get from your physical body is just natural, you feel strong so you are confident. The confidence you get spiritually is what endears you to others and to life. The two work together. Musically we all have been influenced by popular culture one way or the other. Myself I can listen to anything from the 60's upwards, because i grew up listening to all my older siblings music, and i couldn't define my own taste until i could afford my own collection.

BIGOKE, I just pasted the questions from a bodybuilding forum. I ain't a Christian so I dont have these problems. It was a funny discussion IMO.
Okay, I admit it, I was making fun of Christian! A little bit. I'm ashamed. :x :puke:

I quess you didnt get my point on the musical influence argument.
I know we're influenced by our culture in a big way, but when you get a new group of friends and suddenly your musical taste makes a radical turn and you end up hating the music you listened before just because you hang with another crowd now, somethings way off. That's not influenced by...its spineless.
But my real points was: Just because he (Shane) gets influenced alot in his taste of music, doesnt mean the things we enjoy can't be intrinsic.
I think real serious bodybuilding is intrinsic in alot of ways. Most people will think you look like a freak and they wont give you the credit you deserve.
But those bodybuilders don't care about that. They have other driving factors that makes them do it.

Hey Valk,
I get you buddy, you're talking about them fad whores. Join the fad and champion the cause and when it dies say "like what was that shit about anyway.." I remember when I was younger all my contempories started wearing white shoes with pink socks a white long pants and a pink shirt. Looked like freaking strawberry icecream. We used to call them the icecream boys. Anyway the chicks seemed to like that. Icouldn't bring myself to dress like that. Anyway
it seems they were copying the style of some closet gay celebrity. When the news broke, no one ways wearing pink no more.
