Post them here...
I'll start with one...

Paul and Jess are lying together, dead on the floor of a room. The only thing in this room other than them is a pool of water they are lying in and broken glass around them. Also, next to their dead bodies is a table placed just under a window which is jared open about 2 inches. There is no door and the window cannot open or close any more than its currently open. (Forgetting the mystery of how Paul and Jess actually got into the room if this is the case), how did Paul and Jenny die?

Is saying "how did Paul and Jenny die?" at the end part of the riddle or a typo? If not . . . . i dunno. . . they took suicide pills, washed 'em down with water and the last one to die dropped the glass? :D

They got killed by an aquarium that fell on them from the table. The aquarium fell because of the wind blowing against it.

They didn't die, they were lying.

Valk was close with the aquarium except Paul & Jess/Jenny are fish from the tank, not people. :D

OK, I'll play...

• You've got a 4 liter jug and a 9 liter jug.
• You've got a pool of water.
• What is the fewest number of steps it takes to come up with exactly 6 liters of water?

No, you cannot pour some water into the 9 liter jug and then guess.
Nor can you fill each jug up half way or something.
You have to be exact.
A step is defined as putting water into a jug (not emptying). For instance, filling the 4 liter jug and then pouring it into the 9 liter jug is 2 steps.

Did you know it already or are you gonna say you're so smart while in fact you googled it. :mrgreen

hmm, did i see something like this in a die hard film?
hmm.
take the 9 litre jug, fill it up- then pour it into the 4ltr./ youre left with 5.
2 fours go into the nine remaining 1 added to he 5 would be 6.
but can you do that or can you only use the 3 things?
therefore where to put the first 5 litres or 1 litre while making the other/s.
hmm.

1. Fill the 4
2. Pour into the 9
3. Fill the 4
4. Pour into the 9
5. Fill the 4
6. Pour into the 9 (only 1 litre will fit) - empty the 9
7. Pour the remaining 3 litres into the 9
8. Fill the 4
9. Pour into the 9 (contains 7 litres)
10. Fill the 4
11. Pour into the 9 (only 2 litres will fit) - empty the 9
12. Pour the remaining 2 litre into the 9
13. Fill the 4
14. Pour into the 9 = 6 litres

Fill the 9jug, pour into the 4jug -> 5 left in the 9jug
Empty the 4jug, pour again in the 4jug -> 1 left in the 9jug
Empty the 4jug, pour the 1 into the 4jug
Fill the 9jug, pour into the 4 jug (only 3 fits) -> 6 left in the 9jug.

8 steps.

If emptying doesn't count, then that's 6 steps.

We have a winner!!!!

A step is defined as putting water into a jug (not emptying).

The answer...

1. Fill up the 9 liter jug from the pool.

2. Fill up the 4 liter jug from the 9 liter jug (leaving 5 liters in the 9 liter jug).

3. Empty the 4 liter jug into the pool and fill it again from the 9 liter jug (leaving 1 liters in the 9 liter jug).

4. Empty the 4 liter jug into the pool and put the 1 liter from the 9 liter jug into the 4 liter.

5. Fill the 9 liter jug from the pool.

6. Fill up the 4 liter jug from the 9 liter jug. There was 1 liter in the 4 liter jug, so 3 liters will fill it. This leaves, in the 9 liter jug, exactly 6 liters.

BTW, solving that jug-type of problems isn't too difficult if You know how to do it. There are two principles I use in problem solving: 1- split the problem to smaller pieces and/or 2- solve it backwards. That jug dilemma had only two parts (two jugs) so I couldn't split it in parts, so I solved it backwards:

6 liters fits only to the 9 liter jug, so the last move must be pouring three liters off the 9 liter jug (there is another option too but it's too complicated). The only way that's possible is that there must already be one liter on the bottom of the 4 liter jug (the only possible way to be accurate). Then start thinking how to get one liter into the four liter jug etc... etc... Pure logic and small steps, that's the best way to solve problems.

Spike got my riddle correct! Well done that man!

Here's one a bit like the jug one...

You've got a chicken (called Greg), a fox (called Barry), and some seed (called Seed). (Names are irrelevant).

Now, what you have to do is get all 3 of these things across this river but the raft you have will only hold you and 1 other thing.

The riddley part to this is that there are some things that cannot be left together on one side at the same time. The chicken will get eaten by the fox and similarly, the chicken will eat the seed if you arent there to stop it.

How do you get all 3 things to the other side safely?

Spike

1. Take the chicken across
2. Come back
3. Take seed across
4. Bring the chicken back
5. Take the fox
6. Come back and get the chicken.
