Use some sort of image editing program for the job. Shrink the pic to desired size and then save it for example as .jpeg or .gif. Jpeg is best for photos and similar, and You can choose how much to compress the image data (image quality reduces too). Gif is better for logos etc. and it can have only max 256 colours.

There is usually a "image size" -option in the program somewhere. Just zooming it won't shrink it, You must make it smaller in pixel dimensions.

First off just try to save it as a diffrent file type, chose save as... instead of save after opening it with an editing program, if you dont have one just use paint you can do it in that.

1) Firstly open the file and then save as.. and chose the file type in the save as menu, then choose jpeg, not anything else. If that brings it down enough then just leave it at that.

2) If not look at the menus at the top then go to image and chose stretch skew, keep changing the horizontal and vertical percentages down lower and lower like to 90% each time and saving to see the file size till its small enough make sure both the percentages are equal when you change them other wise the image will warp out of shape slightly.

And there we have it a small guide to Photo Editing with Paint!!!
