the monetary system is skewed anyways.
trade was much better in many ways.

got livestock? trade some

got land?
grow crpos, trade some.

got nothing? take from the land.

still got nothing? move.

spice trade, blacksmith, carpenter ect. trade of goods still goes on in many places rather than cash money. such as cattle: it in itself is an object of negotiation and even it is very useful for everything it has/is.
whereas real money wont o you that much good out alone in the wildreness, you cant eat it, you cant use its fur to keep you warm, you cant alk aimlessly at it and get a response.

we came from trade, we will go back to trade: the alternative the government would one day like to FORCE .. a chip in your hand as a credit* card, so you are traceable, controllable.
fuck that, i would hope major civil unrest overthrows any gopvernment like that before it gets hold.

Depends on where they've been crawling. If there is a dead dog under Your house they rip in pieces before walking on Your bread, then they may spread some diseases.

Godma
17th May 2005, 08:16 PM
I don't think so.

The chances of catching anything nasty from an ant is slim to none. Theoretically, it's possible. But if they carry anything, it'll be bacteria, not viruses.

Bobo
17th May 2005, 08:20 PM
So, You do think so. I said nothing about how propable it is, but it is possible. To keep Your food clean, make sure ants or anything else that crawls and lives won't reach Your food.

Godma
17th May 2005, 08:26 PM
Well, yeah. But just as getting hit by lighting is possible, if someone asks me if they're likely to get hit by a bolt on their way to work, I'll say I don't think so.

ss

Bobo
17th May 2005, 08:33 PM
A fly is much more propable to carry diseases because they like to walk on shit and stuff... ants live a much cleaner life. But, bacteria can stick to ants just as easily as to a fly if they walk on dirty environments. Then again, as Godma said, You're really unlucky if You catch something from them. A few bacteria usually can't make You sick, but if they start breeding in Your food, then it's a totally different case. But... don't spoil Your life by fearing ant-spread diseases.

I know this is so last page, but I must comment on the bitch-slapping bees thing.

The best way I've found to kill an airborne bee is with a tennis racket. You can't miss, and the tight network of strings will slice the bee into pieces.

Bobo
20th May 2005, 04:52 PM
You can easily destroy something that way, unless You have no furniture. Hands are more than enough, a quick slap will kill them because they're quite heavy compared to flies. Horseflies are worse, those fuckers won't break easily. A good slap may take their lights off for a while, and You can make the kill then.

At teh time taht I had full time hours I earned after tax and NI £7,000 a year.

Yeah, that`s part of the problem.
I mean, I still want to try army, but with my knee and stuff I think it`s already finished as far as an option.
So next I was thinking about emergency services, I have given serious thought to all in turn- Paramedic, firefighter and even police officer.
I have also thought about other military paths though they will want soldiers who can run without bad knee pain also.. RAF, Navy.
Navy sounds interesting but terribly confined. More than that the sea is so vast that a lot of ones time will be spent under a hot sun, I can tan ok but I prefer not to since I also get burned. (Like now, goddamn it, I shoulda worn what the Arabs wear, that white head thing. It`s a very good idea in such sun.)

You are right though, I want a career. I just am a perfectionist in some ways.

K-man
16th July 2006, 11:46 AM
Hey SS.

You're right obout the rest of the military. The required fitness levels are pretty consistent throughout. Police and fire service too, i believe. That leaves with the paramedic option. What is it that you do at the moment man? Is it feasible that you could start training towards the paramedic thing? Have you looked into it at all? A friend of mine was thinking about doing it and apparently there is around 2 - 3 years of training involved. From reading some of your posts it seems (and forgive me if I'm getting ahead of myself) that you could use some direction on your life.

In my opinion, a big part of the male psyche is the need to have purpose. If we dont we inevitably feel a bit useless and start to get down on ourselves, which in turn affects or view of the world at large.

I guess what my rambling is trying to get to is that if your serious about becoming a paramedic then you first need to establish whether or not it is actually possible. If it is then only you can make it happen. If not, think about something else that interests you and works towards a career there. You can do it man!!

The Big Banana
16th July 2006, 12:19 PM
Firemen are kings among men. Becoming a paramedic would be good too though, I would think that its quite a mental challenge though, learning a fair bit of medicine.

A career is something you work towards with baby steps though. I noticed that for a paramedic, the traditional route (which doesnt involve uni) is by becoming an ambulance care assistant. Internal promotions allow you to move up the ranks and eventually become a paramedic.

I dont expect to be in my 'goal' job for another 5-10 years and Ive been in my current industry for nearly 5 years already.

soserious

Yeah, I thought this is almost certainly the case. :/

Just a lame cinema multi-function job which I will likley be fired from soon due to several reasons.

Is it feasible that you could start training towards the paramedic thing? Have you looked into it at all?
Yes I looked into it, there is a lot of training, 3 or 4 years I think it is.

A friend of mine was thinking about doing it and apparently there is around 2 -3 years of training involved. From reading some of your posts it seems (and forgive me if I'm getting ahead of myself) that you could use some direction on your life.
Yes and no, I have TOO many things that I want to do and achieve, this has evidently been a problem since I have not started any. I guess I don`t simply want to be lost in the system- I am already in the system but I am aware of it. From the military one can gain valuable assets and skills that can be used for many things, realistically it looks like a no go which is very frustrating.

In my opinion, a big part of the male psyche is the need to have purpose. If we dont we inevitably feel a bit useless and start to get down on ourselves, which in turn affects or view of the world at large.

I think you are spot on. I have a fairly harsh view of myself (not neccesarily bad) but even (I) believe that I am better than the lame job I do right now. I am capable of a lot more, besides I don`t like the whole system or concept.

I guess what my rambling is trying to get to is that if your serious about becoming a paramedic then you first need to establish whether or not it is actually possible. If it is then only you can make it happen. If not, think about something else that interests you and works towards a career there. You can do it man!!
Thanks man, actually some things about it put me off. Thats why I considered it but didn`t try and apply. Like I said I am kind of a perfectionist so I have to feel that I can truly throw my efforts into something fully or not at all. when I am forced to put effort into something that I don`t believe I don`t do it to teh best of my ability.

Actually there was a couple more uh, thoughts. I have found myself getting more and more politically aware and thought about looking into it.
I find it hard to apply myself, hard to commit to something.

I don`t know. Frustrated.

soserious
16th July 2006, 04:02 PM
Well now I really am likley to be fired. The new manager doesn`t like me and is looking for any reasons to fire staff who preceded him, in our places he has brought in a large number of south americans who speak very little or NO English, given that we all work with many customers every day this has been very problematic (the guy is a spanish speaking american) now even though we are now OVERstaffed he has brought in yet more staff who begin training tomorrow. Now after hostilities between him and myself I have had a "no show" which can lead to instnat dismissal in itself.
Therefore, I am likely to be fired.

Now, you wanna know why I chose that job (even as a meantime shit job)?
Because I had to wear a hat as part of the uniform.
Everyone asks me why I shave my head at work, I don`t like being bareheaded at work/s.
May sound trivial to you or others who have hair but unless your a bald fucker don`t even think about judging that.

Ovcourse if I really wanted to I could just say to hell with it and whip my hat off and do another job. It`s not an essential that I have headware, I just prefer it.

To be honest jobs really aren`t that easy to find here, I remember spending over a YEAR looking for work- any work, nowhere and I mean NO-WHERE wanted me, the places I got interviews with all changed their mind once they saw me (nothing wrong with my turnout) and teh jobs that were available I couldn`t do.
Even recently I tried very hard for a job which my friend is in, who WERE recruiting, my CV was good, my skills are good, but they took weeks just to tell me that they weren`t looking and didn`t want me. A few weeks later my friend who works there alraedy told me that another friend got an interview and started shortly after and taht they WERE recruiting as they had advertised.

Years ago so desperate I was for work (I was a qualified Gym Instructor) that I took a government initiative where you go to work at a place and get paid very little (£1.90 per hour it worked out for me). After 6 months of abusing my efforts teh company finally offered me a position to which I said "Go F..." and it seemed that I had 2 companies offering me employment at teh same time..arrgghhh... I took the otehr offer and worked there until I got sick and exhausted and badly depressed with major insomnia, Thus started 2 years of psychological fuckeries and exhaustion hell.

This time, I knew taht they would be hiring (just a gut feeling) I was very confident in my ability and passed the interview no problems.

I guess I am feeling demoralized, going to a new place and starting over will be just as shit (with the exception that a lot of teh staff (old staff whove mostloy gone now) were/are fun to work with. I have a lot of friends there.

Hmm, you probbaly didn`t need that long history, but I guess ultimatley it is laziness and procrastination and misplaced perfectionism.
