View Full Version : Why are dry jelqs for girth, and wet for length?

Aside from the empirical observations of forum members, is there a generally accepted anatomical explanation for why dry jelqs give primarily girth gains, and wet jelqs primarily give length?


From looking at the mechanics of the exercises, you'd assume they had a similar effect (i.e. both dry and wet push blood up the penis, with presumably a uniformly distributed pressure increase in the tissue through which the excess blood is pushed...)


Anyway, just curious. Any engineers here with the answer? :D

I don't think an engineer can help you on this one lol. To be honest anything someone tells you would be a theory because noone really knows. People sometimes grow more girth with wets and length with drys. These statement are general statements and thats really all there is to it. Someone could go on and on on why it happens but since noone really knows, why stress over it. Just do pe and gain its is simple as that. You don't need an engineer to explain that to you lol.

It's pretty simple really. Your erection level differs considerably, as does the length of the jelq, and as such the tissues react differently.

With wets, your penis should be maleable at all times (i.e. 50% erection or less). That in itself gives the tissues more flexibility, thus creating more of a stretch.

Drys are done anywhere between 80 - 95% which means you are applying more force. At that sort of erection level, there is a lot more defined shape to the penis. This firmness means that the pressure is distributed over a smaller area, as the penis is now more dense due to being full of blood. This coupled with the length of the jelq really pushes the limits of the chambers.

I have heard of people seeing decent length (and girth) gains just using drys but not the reverse. Usually, if you're looking to gain length, wets should be in your routine somewhere. None of this is set in stone, as Jason quite rightly said, so by all means experiment. But do so only once you have discovered how much pressure your best friend can handle. Start out slow so you dont hurt yourself. :wink:

i think everyone is predetermined to gain something easier then the other so whether you dry or wet you will gain what your genetics let you be it girth or length. THe onyl way to target length only in my opinion is to stretch
