You could use any video editing package to get the frame as a jpg.

Or open Photoshop, then play your movie in Windows Media Player (or whatever) , hit the pause button at the right place, then hit Print Screen button on your keyboard (copies the screen to the clipboard) , now go to PS and File->New (should be preset to your screen res) and paste your screen grab, just crop and resize it. Voilá.

Only if its a wmv file you get most of the time just a black video screen pasted into photoshop.

If it's an AVI or Mpeg, open it in a really good program called VirtualDub - just do a search. It's free and a tiny prog. Then simply take a screnshot by using the key on the keyboard and pasting it into an image editing program - That's what I do for the porn caps I post here.

If it's a WMV or ASF, VirtualDub won't open it 'cos of licensing issues (unless you find and download an earlier version). In that case (and assuming the vids aren't DRM protected, either use a simple screen capture program to nab the pics from a player, or find a player that'll let you do it without it going black.

The reason it goes black is because WMV's use a direct show overlay technique...apparently. That's why VOD's that you pay to rent digitally are encoded that way - so you can't nab images from them or use a screen cap program. Otherwise it'll take a century to just update the thing.

If you're planning on making a site similiar to big-boys, good luck! No doubt you'll need to have some experience in database programming.

"Otherwise it'll take a century to update the thing" should be at the END of my post. I put it at the end of the second to last paragraph by accident. :P
