View Full Version : Anybody know any good tattoo designers?

I know a few tattoo artists here in Finland, and they're more than enough skilled to make a tattoo from just any pic. The problem is I haven't found the pic I want from their archives, and there is this certain type of pic I'm looking for. I spent ten years of my life with my ex-wife, and that's enough to deserve a tattoo of its own to remind me of the good and the bad times we shared. The best pic to represent our marriage would be our chinese horoscope signs fighting... a bull and a dragon fighting would definately make a cool pic. Do any of You know any good artists who could draw such pic with enough detail? I'm willing to pay for it if I find it to be good enough.
Here's an example on the level of details I'm looking for:

...and a tribal version can also be ok, something like this:

So you dont mind travelling for your tattoo?
Thats second one is good. Its a little abstract, has meaning. Very cool.
I think you have to find to artists that do custom designs, you know, the really talented ones.

Yes, I like the second one too, only that tiger should be changed to a bull.

Maybe you should find a well know artists (although I dont know how much you have to spend or how much you're willing to spend) in the states, or England.
Make a short, nice vacation out of it, with as souvenir a beautiful tattoo.

We have plenty of talented and internationally awarded artists here in Finland too, so I can get it done here. All I need is the pic... But, I'm ready to travel for it too if needed. The tattoo will be there for the rest of my life, so the price won't be a problem, doesn't matter what the cost is as long as the pic is good.

Are there any artists in Finland who do custom designs?
You dont know how its gonna end up but its your only choice if you can't find the pic you're looking for.
Bobo

I'll first try to find it myself, because it will be difficult to turn the pic down if a well known artist goes through the trouble of drawing it. That tribal one I may be able to fix myself, I've done my share of designing too... But I'm a lazy fucker and want to find it easy.

I've never really seen the point of tats. I mean, if the message they supposedly carry is so important, why have it inked into your skin as a visual reminder?
But it's your skin, so fair do's.

How about this tattoo.

It's like the blue cheese: You wether love it or hate it, no options between those two.

Get a T-shirt done first.
Who was the dragon?
Bobo
24th April 2005, 02:18 PM
Dragon = my ex wife. You don't need to worry about me taking a tattoo or not, I have no problem with them and won't regret having them. No need for t-shirts or stuff like that. I already have had a tattoo for years and haven't had any regrets. Not a big deal for me.

I'll have it on my left shoulder, whatever size fits there. Not a bear, a bull (or a bison).

I'm not sure if I saw correctly, but something brown/black ran away from me in the forest when I went running there today. Something big... all I saw was a quick flash + the noise of cracking branches convinced me of something big fleeing away from me. I was in the middle of nowhere. A bear maybe... or a moose.

Valk that was too funny.
a bear or a moose or other huh?
musta been pretty big Bobo?!
the only time something *big* ran from me was when i was 17, mountainbiking my way home from miles away, cruisin through this unknown park to me and suddenly 2 deer ran from one side of my path right across me infront of me to the other and just dissapeared in the trees and undergrowth.
was pretty cool actually, one of my better memories.

We have lots of big animals in these forests, but it isn't too easy to see them because they avoid people and stay deep in the forests during daytime. In the summer when I often run very early in the morning I often see something. I feel no fear towards those magnificent creatures, and usually when I see something I go another way, don't want to bother them in their home.

nice philosophy.
same goes for the animals *staying away from people*
"BULL: This ancient symbol of valour and magnanimity represents male fertility, a fiery temperament, and a role as the dedicated father. The Bull was a sun-god in many cultures and was often used in Heraldry to denote kingly power. The Bull is equated with the god Thor (God of thunder, war, strength, and fertility of Norse mythology). Sin (the moon and vegetation-god of Mesopotamia mythology) is regarded as lord of the calendar and was depicted as riding on a winged Bull (his sacred animal). To the Celts, the Bull represented divine power and strength; to the Druids it was a symbol for the sun and the pro-creativity associated with its forces. The Bull played an important part in the symbolism of the Minoans; according to legend, King Minos had a son who was called the Minotaur because he was half Bull and half human."

Im with Godma. After a while you may feel that you don't like the tattoo there anymore. As we age our psyches change and with that our likes and dislikes. If after a while you don't like the car your driving, you sell it. If you don't like the woman you are married toi you divorce her. But if you don't like the tatto, you have to keep it, or pay for expensive surgery to remove it which will leave you scarred anyway. So your screwed no matter what. Your body is your temple. A place of worship. Be careful matey, that's all I'm saying . :mrgreen

But if you are not some young kid  and are at a more mature stage in your life, you are more prepared for a tatoo. I think it is a cool way to make a satement, to yourself and the world, about something.
Myself, I've been on the slow hunt to find a good version of the Greenman for maybe my shoulder or my back. Next, I need to find a decent artist.
Goodluck with your quest.

I've been around tattoos all my life, most of my friends have them, lots of them. I see nothing wrong in taking a tattoo with meaning, if one has been thinking about it long enough. Taking a tattoo when drunk or otherwise without thinking it through, will end up in disaster. There are many things people may dislike in their body, especially when we grow old... but I doubt it very much that I would regret a well done and expensive tattoo that can be described as a work of art. I also take my tattoos in places I can hide them easily if needed, nothing outside the T-shirt area. I'm no kid anymore, seen some life and I definately know what I'm doing. Really, I wasn't looking for morale lectures, I'm looking for good pics for my tattoo. I already have one, have had it for years already... no regrets, quite vice versa actually.

Here's a moral lecture:
TAKE A TATTOO OF THE NEW POPE! BETTER, COVER YOUR WHOLE BODY WITH THE POPE! TATTOO HIS FACE ON YOUR FACE!!
VIVA LA VATICAN! :mrgreen
