When I go to www.cheekycherry.com/forums (http://www.cheekycherry.com/forums) I can't see any link to the new forums. I have to forage around to find a link or info about it.

As a member of the new forums, when I want to visit the forums I go directly to
www.cheekycherry.com/ccforums (http://www.cheekycherry.com/ccforums)

before I went directly to
www.cheekycherry.com/forums (http://www.cheekycherry.com/forums)

I never go to the root page www.cheekycherry.com (http://www.cheekycherry.com)

This may be the reason that we aren't getting enough new members. The old forums are still getting new members everyday
ie: vectigal1994 (http://www.cheekycherry.com/forums/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=6870) just joined the old forums today!

I wanted to adddress the issue and since there isn't any private messaging, I thought it would make sense to put it in this thread.

We may be losing out on a lot of previous regulars becuase of this.

There's an announcement in every section.

If they are not bright enough to do a couple clicks...then they probably shouldn't be here.

You're right. Some of them may lazy. Still, the fact stands that the amount of active members in the new forums is dwarfed by the amount previously in the old forums. Or is it just a phase?

Hopefully it can weed out some of the underage kids.

Well, the old place was around for a little over 2 years. The new CC has been up for a couple weeks. Give it time.

Wernstrum, you are right, I totally agree the links might not be very visible to some people. I have changed the page, hopefully now they will come here. Thanks for your valued feedback.:D

How do we acces the old forum?

Matt

Right now only from links to direct threads that you may have here. I'm trying to work on our hax0r problem, as and when he is sorted, I'll restore normal access.

glad to be of service. I hope this brings in members in droves.

And if the redirect has sorted out two problems at once, then there's something very good about it.

I've just put a new forum at the top of OldCC saying it's closed - maybe they'll see that! :D

Spike

I was expecting some great revelation to his identity, not 3 lines of barely passable English, so thought there may be a new post.

Is cheerycherry a user that Matt has registered? Has the hacker hacked an existing username? And how come cheerycherry has 17 posts but only 1 real post?

I think cheerycherry is a legit username of some member. Cheekycherry is the old admin account that got hacked.

why was this forum created if we already have that old forum?

The old forum ran on a software called PHPbb. This one utilizes a more robust and stable program. V-Bulliten, I believe. The old CC kept getting bogged down and crashing. It was just time to upgrade.

yeah i noticed the software changed, but as for implying phbb is not robust, thats wrong. phpbb is as good as vbulletin, even more as people write mods for that (if u remember i think that i suggested some mods in the older forum).

but who PAID for VB? matt or someone else? or maybe someone at VB had a small thing, they gave it for free :P

I bought Vbulletin out my own pocket :D

It is a lot more advanced software, loads more features but to say it is more robust, I'd have to agree, it's probably not.

Every time there is an error with this software, it sends me an email. After getting dozens of error emails a day, I have disabled Email error sending. luckily so far, none of the errors have manifested themselves in a nasty way we can see.

Matt, I sincerely appreciate and thank you for improving the forum from with your own money. That's very noble.

2 or 3 would be from me - nothing serious, if it can't load a page you get the "Sending the techie an email", hit F5 and it'll load. More a server/ISP/PC problem than vB.
