you hear a police siren whizzing upto/by your house?

TheGreatDivider

Only when I hear gunshots from the projects first.

Matt
22nd December 2005, 10:30 AM
Luckily we don't have many guns here.

But the fear it still very real.

TheGreatDivider
22nd December 2005, 10:32 AM
I've been living here 8 years now and can now tell what type of gun and where the shot came from.

Yes I do feel some fear when that or something like that happens. :cool

They come to the door looking for you!

Drive by shootings are starting to become common (every month or two) around here... to be honest I usually cant tell if its a gunshot or a car backfiring (even though they sound completely different). Still frightening to think about though.

TheGreatDivider
22nd December 2005, 10:57 AM
A gun shot sound way different, the gunshot reverberates sound waves faster.

The Big Banana
22nd December 2005, 10:59 AM
Sydney, Australia. Yes, they sound different as I said. However my hearing is terrible.

TheGreatDivider
22nd December 2005, 11:02 AM
I can help train your hearing.

The Big Banana
22nd December 2005, 11:05 AM
I developed a certain level of industrial deafness. My general hearing is good enough though. Background noise is generally a problem for me though, things tend to blend in. Im fine, but thanks for the offer.

TheGreatDivider

It's often been said that those who don't pay enough attention to colors during their waking hours dream in black and white. So maybe you just need to train yourself to pickup specific sounds. Try training your hearing by listening to both a TV and radio at the same time, but pay closer attention to what you hear on the radio.

Must be a rough neighbourhood, I haven't heard a car backfire for ages.

Do you mean fear of them wanting to arrest you or of trouble brewing somewhere close?

I don't really care about either. Although when I was younger - breaking the law more often - I might, for a split-second, consider the possibility of them coming for me. Then I realised I was too smooth for them to catch me. ;)

Anyway, they're just normal guys in blue/black costumes. As long as you're not wanted for armed robbery or murder, fuck 'em! (Not that I don't think they're doing a fairly honourable job).

I get that feeling when I see a police car pull in behind me in traffic. Kind of a sinking feeling in the stomach.

Bunch of criminals here.

As a younger lad, maybe. I'm an upstanding citizen of my community now. :P

To give myself some credit, its much easier to brake the law in the US then over here. Drink some beer followed by a big joint on your 18th birthday and you've already made two offences in the US. Here: None.

In a more corrupt country it could be a good business opportunity, but since Finland is the least corrupt nation on this planet (click (http://us.rediff.com/money/2003/oct/07corrupt.htm)), their party is something any man should avoid!

I remember this lady thinking that i stole from the gas station she worked at. She yelled at me and i yelled back i didnt take anything but a shit in their bathroom and walked out not giving a damn. She picked up the phone as i walked out. A few minutes later i had a cop behind me. He seemed to follow me everywhere i went. I was scared shitless. Then i turned of to the street where my buddy lives and he went straight on but damn was i terrified even though i knew i was innocent. Should have been used to it. With all the shit in my life, i have been around cops alot.

Bobo

The reason for my cop allergy is propably my gang background and some criminal shit I used to do... haven't always been the law obeying slave of the system I am today. Never got caught but not too proud of that stuff either. But people can change, right?

Yes, yes I do stress when I see or hear Police sirens or persons.
Dunno why exactly. Just ingrained I think.
They`ve been round to mine to deal with stuff, and even to take me a long time ago.. but thats another story.

Hey ZW, hows it going?

Cops don't scare me at all. Even when I'm in trouble for something like speeding. At the end of the day, like Godma said, they are just people in uniform. Doing their job. I feel somewhat sorry for the alienation their job involves.

Bobo
29th December 2005, 06:32 PM
My weird feeling when the police is close isn't because I'd be scared of them as people, it comes from the weird guilty feeling even when I've done nothing wrong.

zwmusic

I'm not afraid of the "police" but i must say I don't trust a human being wearing a uniform and hiding behind the authority this uniform gives him/her.

Valk
31st December 2005, 04:02 PM
Most of the time, they only catch the small, stupid criminals so I'm not afraid. :cool

But what you said is the most naked truth, the police carries a degree of corruption and incompetence. I mean the police everywhere in this world.

Well, in Finland that doesn't seem to be the case, I haven't heard of any corrupt cops here, never. As I said before, Finland has been found to be the least corrupt country in the world in several different studies. Well, there must be some corrupt cops in every country but then again who is 100% honest anyway?

Valk

Go to your Control Panel.

Choose Edit Options

Go to the Additional Information section

In the box under My Diary fill in the T-value of your diary.

You'll find the value by going to your diary and in the adress bar there will me something like t=493 at the end of the adress. Put the number in the box.

That's very good news for you finns.

I used the regard the Metropolitan Police with the highest respect, but now I seriously doubt their competence and honesty. Not only for the fact that they brutally killed an innocent man (Jean Charles de Menezes) who had nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism (first point - incompetence), but if that wasn't enough, they lied shamefully about the circumstance of the killing. They first said that he was wearing a heavy winter coat on a warm summer's day which eventually proved to be not the case, they also claimed that he ran and vaulted the ticket barrier when called upon by the officer, that also was a lie, last and worst of all, they tempered with the CC TV evidence which was taken from Stockwell Tube Station and returned it blank, claiming that the event wasn't recorded on that day. The station manager was absolutely positive when he said that the London Underground CC TV is kept under constant maintenance and everything works. He could not believe the fact that the CC TV wasn't working at that particular moment. That's absolutely disgraceful, to say the least.

In Australia corporate corruption is low compared to world standards, but police corruption is high. Here in NSW they clean out the cops with a royal commission every now and again but it doesnt make a huge difference.

G-Spot19

Nope. All you need to get by with murder is money. ur law system basically revolves around it. Payoffs constantly.
