Damn, this is getting expensive... my list of "must buy" CD:s is growing as we speak.

Again thanks, Matt... what an amazing site. :cool

Bobo

I typed Valk and the Ugly Fat Chicks but I didnt get any results. :(

Bobo
11th November 2005, 12:12 PM
Only silence, Valk? Maybe it was brain wave genome based?

Valk
11th November 2005, 12:15 PM
No it said:

This music is too innovative, too dangerous and so unique that there is nothing like it. :mrgreen

Bobo
11th November 2005, 12:33 PM
 Well I knew that, the sample You posted here was impressive. As You noticed, I automatically gave You a honest answer without even suspecting it being "home made". It was cool, my friend, and I mean it.

Matt
11th November 2005, 01:09 PM
Valky post a link to your work in this thread sweetheart, I'd love to have a listen.

Matt
11th November 2005, 01:19 PM
I'm glad you all like the site, I think you'll all agree it's probably the best free site you've been to in loooong time.:D

Bobo
11th November 2005, 01:20 PM
Yep, but after CC of course!

Valk
11th November 2005, 01:23 PM
Well, I dont have any serious recordings yet. That soundbite I posted wasnt serious at all and wasnt in the style I normal write.
I think I have a couple of great ideas but they havent develloped into complete songs yet.
And I dont wanna post something serious that isnt completely done.
I hope you understand Matty.

Bobo
11th November 2005, 05:57 PM
 The Pandora site experienced "unexpected technical difficulties" and is totally jammed right now. I guess the flood of penis stretchers crashed their server! I bet this was Matt's revenge to the site that slowed CC down! Priceless!

Matt
11th November 2005, 06:22 PM
lol bobo :D

And yes Valky, I understand.. I would still love to hear rough stuff (maybe I did in another thread, I don't remember).

Valk
11th November 2005, 07:08 PM
lol. If you dont remember then it didnt make a very impression.

'TheBugKahuna'
11th November 2005, 07:19 PM
I want to listen to your shit too.

Bobo
11th November 2005, 07:21 PM
lol. If you dont remember then it didnt make a very impression.
You asked our opinion like it was something You just Googled, You didn't give any hints of it being Your work. "Would You dance to this" was the question... and my answer was something like "no, but it would be good background music for a cocktail party" or something similar. Notice: I didn't know it was Yours! I could have answered "that's some deep'n smelly crap" but I didn't, because it was all good. Post away, my friend, don't be shy.

Valk
11th November 2005, 07:31 PM
That was intentional.
If someone who knows you asks for your opinion on something he/she has made, your opinion is (almost) always more positive then if it were a strangers work.
Thats why I dont like posting my stuff on the internet, because everyone can dress up their posts with lots of smilies to make their opinion very possible while they might hate it.

Bobo
11th November 2005, 07:34 PM
I can assure You my answer was honest, I had no clue You're composing music, my friend!

How did You do it? I mean... what equipment? Did You use real instruments or some sort of program? I'm really interested because I feel my brains are full of new music, but all I have is my acoustic guitar and that's not a band.

Valk
11th November 2005, 07:40 PM
It all came out of this baby:

http://users.design.ucla.edu/~badgerow/RD-700.jpg

Its a digital piano with lots of other sounds.
I played the music parts myself (one by one ofcourse) and recorded in a sequencer (Cubase).
I just used some basic sounds.

Drums
Bass
Strings (in the background)
Piano.

The only sound altered was the piano which was distorted heavily.

Bobo
11th November 2005, 07:57 PM
Ok, I suspected something like that. It sure isn't easy, so I can honestly say not just anyone can do what You did.

Valk
11th November 2005, 08:02 PM
Its not my best work by far. Most of my work are actual 'rock' songs with real instruments, structures and real lyrics.
I'm not trying to brag here. I'm no music genious who writes songs that will be rememberd for decades but I do think I'm better in writing songs then an average muscian. But ofcourse thats highly subjective.

Bobo
11th November 2005, 08:04 PM
I'd love to hear some of Your other work too, my friend.

Valk
11th November 2005, 08:09 PM
Maybe you will someday.

I dont have any quality recording at the moment, dont know if my voice is suitable enough to be commited to tape and my songs are only first drafts.
I do have some recordings but these are only to get an idea recorded so I dont forget it.

I plan on making a CD in the future and will make sure you get a signed copy!

Bobo
11th November 2005, 08:20 PM

Well, You should have more confidence on Your talent, man. Don't be shy... let me be the judge.

Valk
11th November 2005, 08:33 PM
Yes, I know, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to music. I'm not good at many things so the couple of things I do have a feeling for, tend to become very serious with me.

Bobo
11th November 2005, 08:35 PM
Perfectionist. That sounds familiar. Say no more, I know what You're saying.

Valk
11th November 2005, 08:56 PM
I have it only with a couple of things, so I'm probably better off then you. :D

Bobo
11th November 2005, 09:04 PM
I'm a perfectionist in everything, and that's why I demand too much of myself. I can't finish any projects "about there", they always have to perfect to the smallest detail. What a curse that is. :x

Valk
11th November 2005, 09:15 PM
So when you for example cook a meal, does it need to be the most delicious, perfect meal there is?

Bobo
11th November 2005, 09:33 PM
Well, my skills don't give me the opportunity to do something like that, so I'll just have to accept "my best". If I cook for myself only, it doesn't have to be perfect (but I still try my best)... but if I cook for someone else, it must be as perfect as possible with my skills.

I don't even dream of making a "perfect" meal myself because I've been to some amazing restaurants and I understand not just anybody can learn that, one must be gifted that way. That's why I always trust the professional chefs when I want to offer something special to my guests, because my own cookings can only be served to my enemies.

But if I'd have the skills, I wouldn't settle for anything less than perfect.

Valk
11th November 2005, 09:36 PM
Okay, what are the things you are a perfectionist in then? (apart from work)

Godma
11th November 2005, 09:47 PM
Good idea for a site, but the stuff in their database is (at the moment) really, really limited. Couldn't really find anything relavant to the searches I made.

Bobo
11th November 2005, 09:54 PM
I was surprised they don't have all the bands I know, but hundreds of bands I've never heard of. But I've still managed to find loads of good bands I've never heard of that I will definately check out, some variety to the top-50 crap that is playing on all radio stations.

BTW, sometimes it doesn't know a certain band, but after a while it does... for example "the Roots" was a total mystery to them earlier today but now they do know the band. Weird...

Valk
11th November 2005, 10:03 PM
Its down again...

I had the exact opposite of Godma. I search for a song and the related songs were almost exactly the same as the original one. Maybe some people like to hear an hour of the same sort of songs but I dont.

The Big Banana
12th November 2005, 12:44 AM
I noticed as I started to throw aussie bands at it that they werent in there. The screaming jets, Eskimo Joe, Regurgitator, Resin Dogs... they didnt even have Cold Chisel.

Matt
12th November 2005, 07:21 AM
because my own cookings can only be served to my enemies.

LOL that made me laugh.

12th November 2005, 01:51 PM
I'm listening to Black Moustache as they recommended.

Valk
12th November 2005, 01:53 PM
So they recommend Black Moustache when you type in 'Back Street Boys'?

Spike
12th November 2005, 01:57 PM
No. Try again. They've recommended Adult & Enon now.

You were right earlier - their recommendations sound like poor imitations of what I liked originally.

The Lords of Acid now.

Valk
12th November 2005, 02:03 PM
The majority of people doesnt really have a diverse taste that they actually like more then 1 or 2 different genres, so this approach is probably the best.

Currently listen to Miles Davis Radio. :cool

Spike
12th November 2005, 02:41 PM
Pandora stopped working - they wanted me to expend some effort signing up!!!

So I've fired up Media Player - I've got 26gb to listen too.

Astral Projection is currently playing, then maybe a bit of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club followed by some Leaves' Eyes or maybe Philip Glass.

Who's Miles Davis? Your neighbour? Tell him to turn his radio down if it's annoying.

Bobo
12th November 2005, 06:33 PM
Black Sabbath radio here. :cool

I just heard about a similar site: http://last.fm. You type in the name of a band you like and it tells you the names of bands that other users who listened to the band you like also listened to. Unlike Pandora, it doesn't play any of the tracks for you (as far as I can tell) but it's still fairly useful.

Oh well. I posted it here after it was recommended by a friend. I've used it a couple of times and it seems to work quite well for less well known bands. So many people listen to Radiohead that if you listed all the songs people listened to straight after they listened to Radiohead then you'd get a huge mix.

5th February 2006, 08:10 PM
I typed BACH and pissed myself laughing.

But I quite liked BEETHOVEN RADIO.

I also tried AMADEUS (for Mozart) and got "Rock Me Amadeus" by a nutty german band.

zwmusic as artist name gave me 3 choices, the first called THE MUSIC. Hmmmmm... the second ROXY MUSIC... Hmmmm... the third FIELD MUSIC... Hmmmm... :?

The best is yet to come, CONCERTO (by Pizzicato Five)!
CONCERTO by Cacophony is OK.

Bobo

Bumb Just checked it out seems pretty good. Been here about ten minutes heard what I was looking for. They do want you to register after ten minutes though it is free though.
