What do "Tuition Fees
Per Semester (Credit) Hour, mean?"
JB22

each class has a certain number of credit hours associated with it, based on how many times a week you have the class. So that would probably mean the cost of tuition based on the munber of credits you are taking in a given semester.

On average how many classes does one have to take? For say, a full time or a part time student?
JB22
23rd March 2005, 11:43 PM
full time is 12 or more credits per semester, which means 12 hours of class per week. less is part time and over 18 is considered overload....at least at my school.

At UF the norm is 13-15 credit hours per semester but I have taken 16 each semester. Its good to take a little more than the minimum because if you only take 12 and then have to drop because of a bad grade or any sort of reasons it could keep you from being a full time student and then I know that my insurance plan would no longer cover me since to be covered by my parents I have to be a full time student and my scholarship would be revoaked.
BTW where you thinking of going?

I am not quite sure yet. I do not even know what I want to do with my life. It is stressful having to think about what I want to pursue for the next 4-8 years.
I thought about going to UF, but my SAT scores are not what I had expected to get.

Its a great school if you can get in. Though they are on a rampage of cleaning up their image ie making you take kick your ass courses just to stay in. But that is why it is cracking the top 50 in the country now.

Good luck, Buggy! Studying is always a good idea... I'm 31 and still studying, been at school for 25 years already, and I will never stop. There's plenty of room in a human brain, and knowledge expands Your mind... the more You know, the more interesting this world of ours feels. I hope You get in. :cool

Yea, I was actually thinking of going to Sante Fe for two years and then attempting to transfer to UF, but I don't exactly want to move away from the people that I love; family and friends.
What was your GPA and your SAT score during your senior year?
Thanks Bobo. Don't worry whatever it is that I do I plan on going to college. I enjoy learning; it gives me purpose, hope, and it helps occupy my mind.
How do you manage to go to school and be in the position you are in at work? That must be very difficult.

I know that was directed at bb8, but It's wierd to hear you talk about SAT scores, because in WI, they hold pretty much no relevance. All schools in the midwest require a minimum ACT score and could care less whether or not you took the SAT...just interesting how it's different in different parts of the country.

Yes it is. I have heard that the ACTs are easier than the SATs.
Anyone here ever study to become a personal trainer? How is the pay, benefits, hours, and life like?

My GPA was 3.5 and SAT was 1290 but I got in probably because I graduated with the IB diploma. Alot of people do the Santa Fe thing but it is not a for sure path to go down either. BTW what part of the country are you from?

Florida. I have a 3.5 as well, but my SAT scores were average.

You can say that again! Difficult it is and hard work, but it all depends on the attitude... I don't take my studies as a negative "must do" -thing, I like it. Studying shouldn't be Your enemy, it should be Your best friend. Correct attitude and state of mind gives You powers of unimaginable magnitude! Wow... that did sound a bit weird, I hope You understand what I mean.

Yes, thank you. You seem to be a bright guy Bobo. You shall do great things.
What is an IB diploma?

International Baccaleureate program. It is like a kicked up AP program where you are taking all college level courses by the time you are a junior, focusing on the liberal arts and massive amounts of procrastination  Actually its a kick your ass program which gives you entry into almost any school of your choice sans ivy league though many people go there also. I you weighted my GPA it would be about 5.0. I chose Florida because my parents said they would help me out in grad school if I stayed in state (another benifit of IB, free in state tuition to the uni of my choice :mrgreen ). Hopefully my future will include some time at a Johns Hopkins Duke or Harvard med.

Wow, that is extremely impressive.
I believe I saw you write something about becoming a neurosurgeon, am I correct?
Now I feel as if I am lacking in inteligence. I have been procrasinating alot lately when it comes to college; applications, student aid, etc. Very callow I know. I always seem to wait until the last minute.

 :cool Thanks... a great penis would do, but that won't happen unless I start PE'ing again. Well, other great things wouldn't suck either, but I doubt I'll ever achieve anything spectacular. I only hope to have a good life, better than it's been this far. I wish You all the luck, Bug!

Leaning more towards dermatology or oral surgery. Yeah for a while I was thinking neurosurgery but the insurance is so great that you end up with far less money and more stress. Dermatologists are looking at seven figure salaries if they are in the right market, especially in Florida. My dermatologist's nurse practitioners are driving BMW M3's and living on the water
