We're all guys here, so I'm sure some of you play video games and computer games. If so, which ones do you play/like?

I'm currently into Battlefield Vietnam. I'd like to try World of Warcraft eventually.

What about you guys?

I was half thinking of starting a thread like this myself yesterday, but I guess you beat me to it. :P

I bought Morrowind GOTY Edition for PC the other day as I've got this whole week free with nothing to do and nothing can suck your time into a black hole like that game can, with the possible exception of Championship Manager.

I'm thinking of getting into World of Warcraft in the summer as my brother fancies playing it too and it would be cool to have someone else starting around the same time to play with.

If you decide to give it a go, post stuff about it up here. I've never tried a MMORPG before so I'm not that sure what to expect.

I used to play games to death (football/championship manager is totally addictive.

Online-wise I was well into the original Shogun series and at it's height was one of the most awesome gaming experiences I have had.

Looking to get into a few more games but I find them a little disappointing more often than not. Any recommendations?

I'm presuming you've played Rome:Total War if you were a fan of Shogun? If not, then that's well worth a look...

What genres of games are you into?

I've played the game in Beta. It was very addictive let me tell you. That's why I didn't buy it. But this summer, I'm willing to give it a shot.

The two games that have sucked more life and time out of me lately are

A, Counter Strike Source (best online fps and I play at least an hour every day - before I got WOW I was logging in 40 hours per week plus on xfire - that's why im the shit now! :D)

B, World of Warcraft (I played this game for 4 days solid, up at 9am bed at 3am SOLID! Very addictive, but I think I burned myself out. Cancelled my account on the 23rd of this month. I was a level 26 human mage)

I was thinking of buying the new Counter-Strike, but I don't know if it's worth the money, I really liked the original one though.

Not much time to play these times... last time I played was last year when I went through Neverwinter Nights. Recently I've played some Hitman:Contracts but not much. Summer is coming so I don't think I'll play much then, outdoor sports will take all my time.

I got pretty good at that game I used to play it so much. I just got tired of it eventually though. It got to the point where I couldn't enjoy it anymore because I got too competitive and got really angry if I played bad... :P

I can't wait for GTA: San Andreas to come out on PC, it sucks that you have to wait for like 8 months or something after it's come out on PS2... stupid consoles! :x

Yeah, I played like 5 minutes of that game (GTA) and it really impressed me. I'm definitely looking forward to it's release on PC. :)

I'm a huge gamer.. though I tend to get games behind the pack.. recently beat doom 3, half life 2 and call of duty expansion.. have all of the moh titles and beat em. Love the first person shooter games. Back in the day I was a quake fanatic.. knew all the levels by heart even where sounds came from and item spawn timers and what not.. I miss that game sometimes..

I also play EQ. Less now then I once did.. That game is a black hole.. according to the timers on my characters I've spent over 250 24 hour days playing that game.. but that is just one one account

I also have morrowwind but can't seem to get into it.. the guy just moves too friggin slow.

Rome total war is nice. I played once as the romans (scipii) and the germans, and now as the britons. I hate the missions that rome gives though. They told me to commit suicide cause I was too popular with the people.. instead I just took rome.

I've played shogun and midevil . and a third party expansion of the napolean(sic) era.. but rome is the best yet.

Is rome total war REALLY good? Is it the best in that genre?

I only play games that are the best, not worth wasting time on the rest.

There is a 'run' function you know. ;)

Seriously though, it's a great game and you really should give it a chance. It offers a lot more freedom than most RPG's, but as a result is slower paced. Personally I find that trade off fair.

I've played all of them so far too and have also had a go at the NTW mod for MTW and am eagerly awaiting NTW2 for RTW. Should be good fun. :)

Well worth a look if you like strategy games. I struggle to think of anything that can stand next to it in terms of graphics and it's gameplay is possibly only rivalled by the Civilisation series.

Beefeater

Warcraft 3 is a good strategy game. Different style then games like Rome TW because you only control a small army instead of hundreds.

BigBadBear
23rd March 2005, 09:41 PM
I liked Warcraft 3 too actually. As you say, it's more 'arcade' style than Rome and is more heavy on the action with less concern for micro management. It's got some pretty good mods too.

Yea Matt I got into the whole World of Warcraft thing for awhile, had a lvl 20 Human Rogue and a lvl 10 Gnome Mage, and it got pretty tiring. Currently trying to get into Star Wars Galaxies, because u can fly around in space and blow shit up. Might try out guildwars since its free everymonth.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna try Guild wars when it's released - looks good. All the good stuff from WOW with less of the shitty stuff.

Oh and I'm gonna give Rome total war a shot, i think my brother bought it so I'll have a look.

many many years playing many many games- could fill a novel with the time spent playing.
but i wont.
its fun to play gta vice city- go up to people and aim a gun- if i dont like what they say i blast them dead. lol.

socom is good too, but if im not concerntrating i usually end up dead very quickly...sometimes cos i blow myself up by the stupid aim button being the same as the changer from rounds to 40mm grenades on an m16-m240. damnit! or that freakin boomer! such a moron, why wont he stay still or not cause us a liability- one shot in the head with a DE.50 usually takes care of him.
mwuahahaaa.

the tomb raidr stuff is good too, i love the architecure and the gardens and adventurous stuff (aside from the fact shes a sexy sprite :P ) but ive completed most of them ages ago.

medal of honour rising sun and frontline i recently bought and finished.
