Are these for mac only? Is it a sort of zip file?

Here's an interesting question.

It stands for "Stuffit" files I believe and theya re generally associated with MAcs. But the thing is, Stuffit Expander software on a Macintosh machine will open both .sit files and .zip files...and even some others.

I wish I knew the correct answer, ..... what tags were attached during compression and what compression software was used? etc.

my guess is that a PC will not read an .sit

(Now someone answer me this: Should I have used an "a" in that sentence, or an "an"?)

It should probably have been 'a', but I'm not really sure of the rules about stuff like that when a word starts with a '.'... :P

Not sure if .sit's are usable on a PC. :? I've never heard of it. I use them on my Mac quite often.

It'd be unlikely anything in a .sit file will work on a PC unless it's a MP3 or JPG or similar.

depends on if you are pronouncing it S-I-T or as the word sit...if s-i-t than an "an" is appropriate...if pronounced sit, then "a" is correct
